Stephen Gill Obituary

GILL, Stephen Sutlej Singh November 29, 1963 - March 17, 2018 Stephen sadly left this world to seek his peace. Steve had a passion for baseball throughout his life. He enjoyed his time in the Canadian Armed Forces and talked about them with exuberance and pride. He enjoyed his coffee time with his siblings and walks along the beach with us! Steve and dad worked together on the buildings, he was very helpful to dad. He was a volunteer at the Victoria Harbor Cats Baseball Club and was an Umpire at National Little League Park. Steve had a generous big heart. He was very caring and kind and loved to laugh with people! Steve's smile illuminated any room he walked into. He is predeceased by his mother Amar K. Gill. He will be deeply missed by his father Sardul S. Gill, sister Amir and brothers Kevin and Robin as well as his many uncles, aunts and cousins. Stephen will also be greatly missed by his Starbuck's Fort St. Family and many friends. The family would like to thank Norm and the Counsellors at the RJH who supported Steve throughout his journey. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC with a cremation at Royal Oak Crematorium. It seems hard to believe that it has been one year since we lost our friend Stephen.

He left a lasting impression on those that cared about him. He may be gone but he is certainly not forgotten. It is hard to forget about someone whose kind spirit has such an affect on us all.

My heartfelt condolences to Stephen's family, especially his father, Sardul. The loss of a child at any age is devastating for a parent, and I hope your memories of Stephen will support you in your grief. So sorry for your loss.

I knew Steve to say hi and chat for nearly 20 years. He always asked me about my daughter. He always had a smile and a laugh. He was so open and generous with his story of struggle. I live on the Oak Bay border and would run into him often. I will miss seeing him. So sorry for your loss.

It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of my friend Stephen. My condolences go out to the family, which I knew Kevin and Robin for a long time.
I was very fortunate to have done some work for Stephen's father in my capacity working with property managers, with my hauling business.
Quite often I would see Steve and his father working together, at some of their properties. On my many meetings over the years with Steve over coffee, brought joy to Stephen, as his friend, It gave great joy to Stephen to be a part of the family business. He had a happy soul and it gave him great satisfaction to share it with others. His love of all sports brought many differences of opinion, that would end in a laugh or two and we would agree to disagree on these issues. P.S. I could usually expect to have a a coffee on him.

Stephen's capacity for channeling his joy in spite of some difficult circumstances taught me what courage was all about. Stephen possessed a kind spirit, and the world would be a better place if there were more Stephen's, and the world will be a sadder place for his loss.

You will be truly missed
