Stephen Ready Obituary
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Steve and are grateful that he was able to remain in his home with his cat Beemo, enjoying his workshop, greenhouse, gardens and the fresh air. Steve was born and raised in Victoria attending Braefoot Elem. and Reynolds Sec. An avid football fan, Steve played for the Saanich Chargers and then the Vampires Football Club where he then helped Dad with the management of the team. Steve was a hard worker, rarely missing a day of work whether for Bapco Paints, Western Marine Supply, Lakeside Homes or Acklands. Steve spent lots of time ocean fishing, playing crib with friends, in the pit crew at Western Speedway and time at Shawnigan Lake with his good friend Jimmy. When Dad stepped back from the family vegetable garden it was Steve that took over. Neighbors, friends and co-workers enjoyed the bounty from his gardens. As health issues slowed Steve down, he could be found in his wood shop drawing up plans, making crib boards, planters and many other projects we all have. Steve was a wonderful son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle. He is predeceased by parents Gerry & Yvonne and leaves behind sister Mary, brothers Michael (Carol) and Richard (Wendy); nephews Matthew, Andrew (Anais), Justin and Jacob (Linda); niece Sarah (Jordan); great nieces & nephews Yardley, Athena, Everett and Romeo. No service by request.
