Susan JENKS Obituary

JENKS, Susan Alexandra (Myrah) October 3, 1964 - June 21, 2013 Susan died peacefully at home in Pemberton, B.C. surrounded by loved ones after a 9 month battle with cancer. Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Stacey Myrah and their dear young sons, Jack and Angus. She is also survived by her parents, Barry and Barbara Jenks, her brother Timothy (Heather) as well as her grandmother, Iris Jenks, together with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Susan was born in Vancouver and spent most of her life on the West Coast. After graduating from the University of Victoria she studied broadcast journalism and for many years worked as a news producer for Global TV Vancouver until she left to become a very engaged stay-at-home Mom to Jack and Angus. Susan loved the outdoors and the beauty of coastal life. She was never happier than when she was camping, hiking, skiing or biking with Stacey and the boys who share that love of nature. Susan had many gifts, one being a wonderful gift for warm and cherished friendships. She will be deeply missed by those many friends and her family. She was so very thankful for their great kindness, practical help and sustaining love and prayer over the past months. They walked the journey with her. The family is very grateful for the extraordinary palliative care given Susan by Dr. Rebecca Lindley and her care team in Pemberton and for the special care by her longtime friend, Dr. Sian Spacey of Vancouver. Susan faced her illness with the same inner strength and grace that she faced life and our lives are all so much the richer for having known and loved her. Peace at the last. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Catherine's Anglican Church, (Capilano), 1058 Ridgewood Drive, North Vancouver on Thursday June 27 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Childhood Cancer Research Endowment, 938 West 28th Ave. Vancouver V5Z 4H4 or BC Projects Nature Conservancy of Canada, 36 Eglinton Ave. West, Suite 400, Toronto, Ont. Sorry to hear this news about Susan. As a classmate at Arbutus and Mt Doug, she was smart, funny and full of life. The last time I bumped into her she was skiing around Hollyburn. I am sure she will be watching over her children with her love and guidance.

I echo the sentiments that many have written here. Though I didn't spend a lot of time with Sue, when I did I came to know her as a warm, kind hearted person and a loving and dedicated wife and mother. I pray that the love Sue bestowed on her family and loved ones will sustain them as they grieve for her loss which came too soon. Sending all my love and heart felt prayers.

I am so very sad to hear of Susan's passing. I have so many great high school memories of her and her gorgeous smile, witty retorts, her loving personality and of course some VERY goofy times. Sending an ocean of love to her family,

Barbara, my life was blessed in so many ways when I worked as a substitute teacher for you at Gordon Head. I can only imagine what a wonderful mother you were to Susan and she passed on that love to her boys. May the love which God gives us pass on from her boys. I am so sorry for your loss, but grateful for the promise of an eternal life, Margaret Haskell

I was shocked and very sad to learn of Susan's death. She was a great student in our Broadcast Journalism program at BCIT and brought a quiet but determined dedication to everything she did here. She is gone from us far too soon. My sympathies to all of her family and friends.
