Our family was blessed to have recently come together to celebrate his 94th birthday.
Veysie was a highly intelligent man - an avid reader throughout his life - a habit that developed and sustained his sharp intellect and sense of humour.
In his 20s, he served as an officer and navigator in the Canadian Air Force. Veysie was also a sports car enthusiast and a deeply passionate sailor who never turned down a chance to sail. For many years he had his own tropical blue Tanzer that he sailed solo or with family around the islands and bays near Ladysmith, BC.
His career took him around the world including - Australia, where he met his wife Anita. As well as the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico and the United States. In 1973, Veysie and his family moved to Ladysmith, BC where he built and owned the Dairy Queen. He retired in 1993 and moved with Anita to Victoria where they volunteered at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and enjoyed all the city offered.
Veysie was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered with love, respect and great affection by all who knew him.
Raise a glass of Veysie's favorite Drambuie and toast to a life well lived.
A celebration of his life will take place in the summer of 2026.
