Thomas Miller Memoriam

August 2 1921 - June 11, 2012

In loving memory of our Dad and Grandpa, Roy Miller. It is said the true measure of a man's success is evident in his family. Dad was truly successful indeed, and we have much to be thankful for. Thanks Dad for exemplifying your hard work ethic which you instilled in all of us, your love of boating, travel, adventure, and pets - all of which we inherited. Thank you for inviting us all home for the best family reunions every chance you got. We'll always treasure those times spent together. Thanks for teaching us the value of the truth, and always sharing it with us. We admire the gentleman you remained under the most trying of circumstances, right until the end. Most of all, thank you for the most priceless gift of all - each other. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. Love keeps no record of wrongs - even when all is taken away. Love does not delight in evil - but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." We wish to thank countless family friends for their condolences this past year, and for the dedicated care Dad received at the Sidney Care Home. He was very happy there. Thanks for every kindness given to Dad - and to our family. A final thank you to the stranger who took Dad to hospital - we can never thank you enough.
You'll live on forever in our hearts Dad.

Dad and I

Looking through our family photos last night, over sixty five years worth of them, I am so proud of being one of Roy's five kids, having had such a wonderful childhood and a lifetime of highlights...including our many trips with him, whether to pick up a mobile home with him in the company truck, fly to the States in his Piper Comanche, take a family holiday through the Gulf Islands on the Kajsa Meri, join him at the condo in Mexico or California, take a road trip back to Battleford, or in later years just enjoy each other's quiet company in one of his favourite eating spots around Sidney.

Many happy memories took place over the years at his home on Blue Heron Rd, including birthdays, weddings, tennis tournaments, pool parties with his wide circle of friends, and family reunions with his prairie clan. There was always music and joy, great food, and togetherness that can never be forgotten. We hold close those great times and feel privileged and blessed to be Roy's children.

Though circumstances beyond his control forced him into seclusion in his later years, we enjoyed seeing him so happy at long last, being lovingly cared for in the Sidney Care Home, warmly embraced by his caregivers and once again able to enjoy long visits, laughter, and walks down memory lane with all of his children and grandchildren. Those last few years visiting you were some of our most meaningful and sweetest.

Rest in perfect peace Dad...your life was rich and full and you were truly loved by each of us. Many thanks to the stranger who insisted he not be left alone at home and admitted him to emergency, never to return to the place he held so dear.
