Thomas Simms Obituary

SIMMS, Reverend Thomas Maxwell Of Victoria, British Columbia, peacefully passed away on May 13, 2017, with Marion, his loving wife by his side, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Also left to carry on Tom's happy legacy are his four children, nine grandchildren and his one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. A special mention is also made to Dr. Christopher Galanos and to Dr. Richard Mildenberger for their kindness and excellent care over the years. Many thanks as well to the staff and residents at The Wellesley, who made Tom's final years so meaningful and joyful. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at The Wellesley, 2800 Blanshard Street, Victoria. A memorial service will follow in Buchans, NL on Saturday, July 29 at 11 am, where Tom's ashes will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the United Church of Canada Mission and Service Fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or you may also do an unexpected act of kindness to someone of your choosing in Tom's honour. Marion and family ~ so sorry for your great loss. Praying you find peace. He was such an amazing person, always seemed bigger than life. Full of joy, love and spirit. A competitor and friend to our mom and so many others. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear sweet Mr. Simms, a lovely man who was a resident where I worked at the Wellesley. Tom always had a kind word for me, telling what a wonderful job I was doing. My deepest condolences to his wonderful family.
