Thomas STEPHENS Obituary

Thomas Alfred Stephens passed away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital,

Oct, 7th, 2018 having just celebrated his 87th birthday.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Elsa, son-in-law, Mark Tassell, Tom will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Teresa, granddaughter Erin (Cameron), grandsons Sean(Ashleigh), Benjamin, Nicholas, and great grandchildren, Jaxon and Maddison, and many family and friends.

His love of the ocean ever present, always the skipper of his own life, Tom rode the high seas in his career on the tugs and at the dockyard as a diesel engineer. Navigating the calm waters as a husband and father, he welcomed aboard grandchildren and great-grandchildren with wild abandon (and the odd fake nose and mustache!) He loved family, good friends, fresh halibut and a rousing hockey game. The trade winds of Maui beckoned often, but Victoria always remained his home port.

A special thank you to the staff of Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their care and kindness.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, Falaise Crescent, on Saturday, October 27th, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C.
