Thomas Younger Obituary

YOUNGER, Thomas (Tom) Roy
September 6, 1974 - May 21, 2025

Tom sadly passed away suddenly at age 50. Tom was predeceased by his father, Frank. He is survived by his mother, Sharon, wife, Tamara and their son, Paul (16), as well as his siblings Pauline (Mike) and Matt (Zoë). Tom was deeply loved by everyone in his family. He was a devoted son and a loving husband and father. Tom loved all-season family camping trips with Tamara and Paul, and teaching Paul how to fix just about everything. He was quick to help others and share his wisdom with them, and he deeply cherished his extended family and friends.
His contributions to the lives of many include his commitment to his career in Computer Science, his role as Concert Master in the local classical orchestra, supporting the Scouting community, and mentoring others. Tom was also an organ donor whose final gift was that of life to others.
Like his father before him, Tom loved riding his Harley motorcycle to orchestra practice/ concerts. He passed along his love of lego, radio controlled model car racing, and practicing at the local shooting range to his son. Tom also loved to include his family in viewing comets, meteor showers, and traveling to experience solar eclipses from the ultimate viewing spot. His unique character and compassion for all of his friends and family will be missed. He has left enormous shoes to fill.

I was very sad to hear about this today from another past Questerite. Tom was a big jolly fellow, and we would chat often in the lunch room at Quester. I enjoyed working with him, talking about all sorts of (usually technical) things. Whatever challenge he was currently working through. We were often the last two in the building at the end of the day for 3 years. I still have the blueprints to the Starship Enterprise right here next to me at my new office at Reliable Controls. Gonna miss ya big guy :-(

Tom and I only worked together for 2 years, but we quickly connected over the similarities in our professional experience, personal interests, and family lives and adventures including RV trips and flying. I will miss him greatly, and extend deepest condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom in Engineering as well as playing together in the orchestra. Tom was funny as heck, always willing to help, friendly, and just a great guy. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his family. A great loss.

Truly a smart, brave and forthright man. When he would laugh in the break room it would reverberate throughout the whole building. It was a privilege to work alongside him, and a pleasure to drink beers with him afterwards. My condolences to his family and everyone who knew him, may he rest in peace.

I never met Thomas but I so enjoyed reading about him, and I knew some about him from Matt. Harleys, concert master and comets. How unique and wonderful. I`m so sorry his son, wife, family and friends have lost him at such a young age. He is a few months younger than my baby brother. I will call my brother today and tell him I love him. I wish you all solace in your grief and a lifetime of happy memories as he lives on in your hearts.
