Ursula Recksiedler Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ursula Caroline Recksiedler (nee Wehrli). Her 88 years were filled with love, hard work, joy, humour, determination, adventure and compassion.
Ursula was born in Invermere, BC, and grew up in nearby Brisco. It was there that she developed and displayed many of the characteristics that would serve her well in her later years.
After leaving the family farm, Ursula went to Victoria where she graduated from the Royal Jubilee Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Nursing wasn't a job for her. It was a passion. Throughout her career, which included stops in small towns on Vancouver Island as well as stays in much larger communities like Ottawa and Port Moody, she was a strong and accomplished leader who will be fondly remembered by those who met her. She considered many of her nursing colleagues lifelong friends.
Ursula met her future husband, Rex, in Kitimat while they were both on the job. She was nursing. He was on shift as an RCMP member. The rest, as they say, is history. The two quickly became inseparable and married in 1961. Two years later, their son, Mark, was born. A little more than four years later, Dean followed.
As a family, they trekked around the country as Rex was transferred to various communities in BC and then Ontario but they returned to BC in the 1980s where Ursula and Rex eventually retired. In retirement, Ursula's passions were her beloved grandchildren followed by golf, bridge and travel.
Ursula passed away at Eagle Ridge Hospital following a short fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rex, her sons, Mark (Jackie) in Edmonton and Dean (Julie), and her incredible grandchildren, Jensen, Karsten and Cassie in Langley.
There will be no funeral by request.
