Walter SAVORY Obituary
Jim was born in Victoria, B.C., to Fredrick Walter Savory and Lillian May Savory (Smith). He spent his life in Victoria and Galiano Island. After serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he attended the School for Bricklaying at BCIT in Vancouver. Becoming a skilled Journeymen Bricklayer and Mason, Jim worked on several notable projects, including Centennial Square, Rocky Point Lighthouse, Government House, and the Legislative Buildings. Later, he established his own business, W. J. Savory Masonry.
Jim enjoyed swimming, long walks, tinkering with anything that needed repair, and was an avid gardener. In his later years, he found joy in traveling and living in his motor home. Jim was known for his kind and generous spirit, always lending a helping hand to others. He lived a full and happy life, passing away peacefully.
He is survived by Dorothy May Savory (Dix), and their four children: Pat, Gary, Michael (Michelle), and Gordon (Jennifer). Jim also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Robin, Stephanie (Dalen), Shannon (Nick), Kyle, Carly, Kenny, Kymber-leigh, and Owen, as well as two great-grandchildren, Beckett and Scottie.
In lieu of a service, donations in Jim's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
