Wayne Lum Obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Wayne Lum, 81, of Saanich, Vancouver Island. Wayne passed away peacefully in his home on December 18th, 2022. Wayne was born to Violet (Ngai) and Lawrence Lum on Jan 17, 1941 in the East end of Vancouver. A vibrant personality from the beginning, Wayne was an excellent friend to many. Wayne had a love for traveling and adventure, and these were fostered at an early age. As a young teenager Wayne worked on a fishing boat off the coast of Vancouver, through various misadventures Wayne also found himself working with friends at various nightclubs around Vancouver. It was there at "The King of Clubs" where Wayne worked, that he first met his wife Lasha. Wayne & Lasha spent their free time traveling around the world, however, Hawaii was their favorite destination. Both enjoyed the beaches, the golf and their time together in this surreal setting. When not traveling to exotic locations, Wayne excelled by making personal connections in all the different business endeavors he pursued. In 1996, Wayne retired after 20 years in the real estate industry. During his retirement Wayne enjoyed golfing, going for morning coffee with his friends, and enjoying his pipe on the back deck while he admired Lasha's garden. Although Wayne did not have any of his own kids, he was admired by all of his nieces and nephews and always had a tender spot for the various dogs that were in his life. Wayne is survived by his wife, Lasha, and younger brother Darryl, along with countless nieces and nephews. Wayne predeceased by his mother, Violet, and father, Lawrence along with various other close relatives. A celebration of Wayne's life will be announced at a later time for the late spring of 2023. If you'd like to honor his legacy, please make a donation to the Victoria Humane Society in Wayne's name.

I met Wayne while working in a Real estate office in Richmond. He was one of most funniest and kindest people I knew. He became a big part of my life and I will truly miss him.

Great memories of an "always happy" guy. We met at Vancouver Tech, and became sports buddies. We played basketball together at Gibbs Boys Club, and also played soccer together, I think for the "Eagles". After graduation we drifted apart, but reconnected at our 20 year graduation reunion. A true "east end guy" who was a good friend to many. I remember our years together with fondness. Jim Gray, Vancouver Tech, Class of 1959

We met Wayne while golfing at Cedar Hill. Craig quickly became a part of Wayne's golf and coffee buddies. Their fun time together included a golf trip to Las Vegas, no ladies allowed. Lasha, our sympathy goes out to you at this difficult time.

Wayne was an exceptional man -- always such fun to be around, and a very good and kind friend -- I loved the guy! I have such fond memories of our many golf games, endless coffees, and of course breakfast at Denny's on someone's birthday! May God have him in a special place.
Our condolences, Lasha and family.
