Weer Bains passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, in Victoria, British Columbia, the city where he was born on November 30, 1931. He was 93 years old. A lifelong resident of Victoria, Weer witnessed nearly a century of change from his enduring place in the community.
His life was grounded in meaningful relationships and deep family ties. Weer was predeceased by his first wife, Gurdip Bains; his children, Rovynne Bains and Jehlam Bains; and his son-in-law, Charlie Player.
He is lovingly remembered by his second wife, Marceline Bains; his daughter, Darcia Player; granddaughters Keisha Player (Jared Hartl) and Robyn Player (Kayla Maier); and great-grandchildren Indie Hartl and Dean Player.
He is also fondly remembered by Marceline's children Jackie Strukoff (Troy) and Nicole Dargent (Jim), as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the fourth floor at Selkirk Seniors Village for their dedicated care over the past two years. In accordance with Weer's wishes, no service will be held.
