William SIMMONDS Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Uncle Buck aka Bill Simmonds. He was a kind soul, with the warmest of hearts. He lived a full life, surrounded by his family, always full of cheer. He is predeceased by his father Alastair, mother Pauline and sister Joan. He is survived by his brother Robert and many relatives. He grew up in Ottawa and moved to Victoria in the late 80s. He always wore a poppy in his hat and every birthday his wish was for world peace. He is remembered for his colourful stories, the sparkle in his eye and his mischievous grin. He was such a unique character and for those of us who had the privilege of meeting him in this life we're so very grateful that we did.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the William Simmonds Fund held at the Victoria Foundation. The Fund will be used to support mental health. I had the opportunity to see Uncle Buck in action with his nephews and nieces about 10 years ago and it looked like everyone was having more fun than a barrel of monkeys! In his younger years, Bill also had a close relationship with his Uncle Ed and Uncle Max. This occurred when Bill used to travel from Hamilton to the farm in Arkona. They seemed to feed off of each other and it was very entertaining to watch. Every few minutes they would break out into hysterical laughter. A few memories of my cousin Bill. May he Rest in Peace.

I met Bill & Pauline when I worked for Dr. Carroll in Vic West. Bill was always happy and had something to debate/discuss when he visited our office. Always abit of a character

Bill was one of the kindest and happiest person I’ve ever met. I loved hearing his stories and his 007 ID in his wallet that he would pull out to show me. God bless Bill. What stories he is telling everyone up there now?. ❤

I am very sorry to hear about Bill. I met Bill when he moved into Selkirk Place a few months back. I always said hello to him when I visited my Mom. He went down to Bingo and happy hour with the 7th floor residents. He was very proud of the toque that his niece knit for him and I saw him wearing it whenever I visited. (His words - "My niece made it for me" and a huge grin) I am glad that I met him... his twinkling eyes, his enjoyment of the music on Friday afternoon... Condolences to his family, know that he touched my heart in the short time I knew him
