William Worobets Obituary

WOROBETS, William Alexander (Bill)
With heavy hearts we sadly lost Bill on November 3rd, 2025, after a sudden and aggressive battle with a brain tumor. He passed peacefully under the care and doting of an amazing team of nurses, where he enjoyed his favourite ice cream for breakfast brought into the hospital by his wife, and watched all the exciting Blue Jays World Series games with his son and grandson beside him.

Born and raised in Burnaby, Bill completed his Civil Engineering degree at UBC in 1972 before moving to Victoria, where he and Janet built their family house and raised two sons together. Bill was extremely involved with the local community, with active roles serving the Torquay School, Gordon Head Soccer, and Lambrick Park Baseball Associations.

Bill's favourite things to do were growing, cooking, and eating a large variety of really good food. He loved skiing in Whistler, golfing in Palm Springs, bike riding in Victoria, reunions with his '72 Civils, and traveling to Bridge tournaments with Janet.

Bill's family will continue his legacy, as his teenage grandchildren intend on pursuing Engineering at UVIC, nurturing Bill's orchard and garden, cooking his adored recipes, and hopefully one day raising Bill's great-grandchildren in the house he built with Janet.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held in Victoria in Summer 2026, details TBD.

If you have any old photos or stories of Bill that you would like to share with his family, we would greatly welcome and appreciate them: please email to [email protected]

Janet, please accept my deepest sympathy. I have fond memories of chatting with Bill at the bridge table. He always had a warm smile as he greeted us.
Warm regards...Heather Erskine
