CHERNOFF, Ivan William
October 28, 1942 - May 17, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan William Chernoff, at 81. Ivan was born on October 28, 1942, in Rainham, England, and passed away on May 17, 2024, at Eagle Ridge Hospital, surrounded by family.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Patricia, sons Michael, Greg and Jamie, daughter in law Cheryl, grandchildren Trevor, Liam, Stuart, Owen, Logan, Taylor, Bailey, Kal, and Bruce, as well as friend and former wife Sharon, sister in law Lynn, nephew Calder, and niece Janelle.
Ivan is predeceased by his father William "Shiner", mother Daphne, brother Michael, and daughter Shelby.
Ivan moved to Yorkton, SK at the age of three, accompanying his mother, Daphne, from England. Once there, he would develop a love for hockey that would endure to his last day. Ivan studied psychiatric nursing in Weyburn, SK, married, and moved his young family to Port Coquitlam in 1972, living proudly in his home for 50+ years. He worked at Riverview Hospital for 30 years, until its closing, when he moved to Colony Farm Forensic Hospital to finish his career. Ivan played hockey from the day he arrived in BC, playing on many teams and making many friends. He supported his community as President of PoCo Minor Baseball and a valued umpire. Ivan loved to fish and camp. He also loved to read, history being his favourite. Ivan loved to travel with his wife, Pat, visiting historical war sites in Europe, his Aunt Janet and husband Len Boorman in England, eastern Canada, and the US. Ivan was happiest when family was swimming in his backyard pool.
