My heartfelt condolences to all the Steele family on their loss.
Jim gave me my 1st job in 1958 in store #1 in Kerrisdale. Shortly there after we all moved to the brand new plant at 2110 Skeena St. I remember being the swamper on the early Saturday morning delivery truck to all the stores, with Pip being the driver. I remember the fire we had on a Sunday evening in the plant and all of us coming out to look and then having the Bakery moved temporarily above the old "White Lunch" on East Hastings St. opposite the old Woodwards.
I could go on and on but what stands out in my mind is the absolute Number 1 rule Jim had and that was "Quality,Quality,Quality", if it didn't measure up to his standard it never left the plant. Jim also was very much a stickler for Cleanliness which he never let up on. So many memories still!!
Jim and Pip had a positive and lasting influence on my life for which I will always be grateful.
Farewell Jim, one final SALUTE to you Sir!
with utmost Respect.

My sincerest condolences to all the family. We shared some good times together in those early years, Jim, Pip, Jack Ewart, Dick Baguley (my late wife's brother) and I...baseball, rugby, the delicacies of the Cookie Jar and the like. Our thoughts are with you in your loss. Jim Mulvaney
