Peter BIDLAKE Obituary

BIDLAKE - Peter M. November 19, 1938 - May 2, 2014 Proud Vancouverite known as Dot to many. Loved by his family and friends, devoted West End resident. Leaves behind sister Judy Mattson (Dale), brother John (Joanie), nieces Sarah, Patricia, Laura, Leslie, nephew John Junior, grand nieces Kyra, Laila, Lauren and grand nephew Bobby. In his younger years Peter enjoyed participating in many Theatre Under the Stars and Metro Theatre productions. He helped organize many pride events. Peter has left us, but will forever be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers a donation to a food bank would be greatly appreciated.

I heard from Ron Betchley that you had passed and it was with great sadness and unfulfilled plans to meet that caused me sorrow. As my first "roomate" after leaving home, you showed me the ropes and made life a complete joy for us all at "The Rendora". Your contributions to Vancouver's life and the support you gave to all you did is an example for all to follow. RIP, dear friend.

Peter your passing deprives us now of much laughter and joy for you spread it in such abundance. We in the East are only now learning of your departure. As you join Sandy and Craigalina and so many other hearts that loved you so, I hope that you "booked off early and wore a green suit" for only you would know the love we have for you in that memory

The years may have taken us on separate paths but the memories of uncontrollable laughter on warm Victoria summer nights when we first met, the kindness you showed me when I moved to the "big city" in the mid-70's and the extraordinary heart warming charm you extended to all those around you will never be forgotten. My dear cousin, Peter. It took so long for us to meet and still we were family right to the very end. You brought me so much joy and gave me so many special memories of a family I never knew. I am sorry I did not know of your passing. I am glad we had a chance to talk on the phone not so long ago. Peace be with you dear one!
