Peter Hallam Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter, peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022, with family by his side, in his 84th year.
Predeceased in 2009 by Patricia (Pat), his wife of 45 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Bryan and his wife Karolyn of Springwater and Gary and his wife Allison of Waterloo. Adored Grandad of Harrison, Zachary, Lucas and Milena Hallam.
Peter was born in 1939 in Rawtenstall England, the only child to the late Robert and Annie Hallam and immigrated to Canada with Pat in 1963. Educated as an engineer, Peter enjoyed a long and successful career with the Howden Group.
Upon his retirement, Peter and Pat indulged in their love for adventure, traveling to many countries across the world before settling as snowbirds in Florida. The door to Peter's winter home in New Smyrna Beach was always open to friends and family, especially his grandkids, creating wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Peter savoured the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer known to enjoy a good meal and a nice glass of red wine in good company. By all who knew him Peter will be remembered as a proper gentleman and will be dearly missed by his close companions and his large circle of extended family and friends.
Peter's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the healthcare providers at Hygate Retirement Living, St. Mary's Hospital and the Hospice of Waterloo Region for their compassionate guidance and care during Peter's brief illness and final days. We are beyond fortunate and forever grateful.
Please join us in a celebration of Peter's life on Thursday, December 1, 2022. We'll gather at Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo for a visitation at 10:30 a.m. and a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. The service will stream live on the funeral home's website for those who would like, but are unable to attend in person. Following the service, we invite you to join us at Sole Restaurant, 83 Erb Street West, Waterloo to share memories and a final toast to Peter.
