Charles Burland Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, doting father, dear brother, uncle, cousin, boss ("Chief") and friend on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the age of 54 surrounded by family, peacefully in his home. Pancreatic cancer may have tragically shortened his life but nothing will diminish his spirit and legacy. Charlie will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Lisa, sons Geoffrey (Julia), Evan and Blair, sister Barb (Morris) Eddy, aunt Hazel Appleton, father-in-law Jim (Rita) Collee, brother-in-laws Steven (Tracy) Collee and Greg Collee (Leah). Remembered by many cousins, nephews and nieces. A true and loyal friend to many. Predeceased by his father Dudley, mother Phyllis and mother-in-law Sharon. As the 3rd generation owner in a family tourism business he was dedicated to his work, family, friends and staff. Charlie made a lasting impression with everyone he met with his quick wit, infectious laugh, easy going nature and consistent attire of his fire-fighter t-shirt, work boots and John Deere cap. He was never at a loss for words and loved a good steak and great conversation. One of the youngest to receive a single engine pilots license at the age of 16 years he spent much of his younger years flying around out of Niagara District Airport and trips with the St. Catharines Flying Club. He loved the water and would be found on Sundays with his family power boating or seadooing. He was a dedicated member of the St. David's Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years, loved his community and would do anything for his neighbours, friends and family. Those who knew him well knew he loved his tractors, man cave, family and anything mechanical. Special thanks to his nurse Alex and staff at St. Elizabeth Health Care, friends Colleen and Doug, staff at Princess Margaret Hospital and Walker Cancer. DUE TO THE RESTRICTIONS OF COVID-19 THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION OR SERVICE AT THE FUNERAL HOME. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Fairview Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are invited to join the family in the funeral procession, leaving PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls at 12:15 p.m. The procession will be going up Clifton Hill and free parking is available on both sides of the street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice Niagara or the Terry Fox Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family. Online condolences at pattersonfuneralhome.com

Dear Lisa, Geoffrey, Evan and Blair,
We also would like to share our sincere condolences on your unspeakable loss. Though I knew Charlie for a short time, it didn't take a moment to instantly like him.
Lisa, you both made us feel so welcome to the neighbourhood, and it was a joy to watch him on his tractor at the "Farm" with a big smile while driving it. Charlie always had time to stop and talk, share a laugh and he had such a positive outlook, even fighting this horrible cancer.
May God give you peace and comfort during this most difficult time.
