Scott Rogers Obituary
February 13, 1963 - July 15, 2022
After a long battle with addiction, Scott found his peace and was received into paradise on Friday, July 15, 2022. Dear father to Gwenyth Anne Rogers and Joshua Alexander Rogers, both of Welland. Scott joins his parents George and Sarah, his brother Bert and his grandparents into the loving arms of God.
Scott was born in Calgary, Alberta, later moving to Mississauga with family where he enjoyed a wonderful childhood. He spent time working as a travel agent, a job which provided no shortage of inspiration on where his next adventure might be. He loved to travel, and among his most memorable trips were those to Mexico, Indonesia, and Disney. He was an avid lover of Musical Theatre and movies; a love which he instilled and shared with his own children. Whether they were going to shows or quoting movie lines to each other, Scott thrived in the world of fantasy and story, as it served as an escape to reality. He also had a love for animals, often dreaming about owning a large farm that could become a home for puppies.
Scott was known for his storytelling, his charisma, his encouragement, and for how he would always go out of his way to make others happy even when he had lost hope. Scott suffered for years with his demons, but should not be defined by his addiction or his mistakes, because there was so much more to him than that. He found joy through other people's joy. He was a troubled man with many troubled relationships, but he loved sincerely and earnestly. Despite his tribulations, he remained an optimist. His legacy is his love for his children, who meant more to him than anything.
In keeping with Scott's wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, 221 Division St., Welland on Saturday, July 30th from 2-3 p.m. A private family service will follow. If desired, memorial donations can be made to ARID Recovery Homes. Or, as a tribute to Scott, help someone in need. A little bit of compassion can go a long way.
