Wayne McRAE Obituary

December 8, 1948 - December 3, 2022

Wayne Michael McRae passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022, surrounded by the love of his children. Loving husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" McRae (2022). Dearly loved father of Tammy (Gary) Zalepa, Tricia (Darren) Johnston, Carrie (Dave) Santo, Michael McRae, and Megan McRae. Dear grandfather of Nathan, Benjamin, Tyler, Olivia, and Frankie. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Edith McRae. Caring brother of Lorrie Carr (the late Bruce Scott), Marty (Lori) McRae and the late Terry (Janice) McRae. He will be sadly missed by his extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Wayne began his career in 1967 at Acres International which later became Hatch Engineering, until his retirement in 2008. He was an avid sports enthusiast, as both a player and coach of slo-pitch in the region and a life long fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Wayne will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and infectious laugh. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakwood Park Lodge for their professionalism, kindness, and caring during his time there. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to call at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Funeral service to celebrate Wayne's life will take place at Morse & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 12 p.m. Memories, photos, and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com

Uncle Wayne, so many memories. Always funny, playing street hockey in the driveway, calling my sister "spaghetti legs", the knee grabbers which were both painful and ticklish. I always ran into him at slo-pitch tournaments and was always cool when he umpired my games. He always had a smart remark as I stepped into the batters box and during my at bat.

Our deepest condolences to all of the family. Wayne was well respected during his time at Acres and on the Slo-Pitch diamond. We had a lot of laughs. Will miss him!
