Howard Gill Obituary

Howard Wesley Gill passed away peacefully on January 21, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Brandon, MB and attended Forrest Elementary and Elton Collegiate. He had an amazing talent for selling, which led to his becoming sales manager at Ford dealerships in Thompson and Brandon at a very young age. In 2004 he moved to Okotoks, AB to pursue his ambition of self-employment. Not many years later he would come to be known as "the Christmas tree guy", providing nearly 7,000 trees
to lots all over Alberta. Howard was passionate about anything with an engine. His knowledge of values of used vehicles and equipment was extraordinary and he became the go-to person whenever family or friends needed to make a purchase. In addition, he could fix almost anything and all the neighborhood children would come to him whenever they had problems with their bicycles, scooters and skateboards. Howard was an avid outdoorsman and few other things were as enjoyable to him as camping and fishing with his grandson. Howard will be lovingly remembered by his mother Audrey, father Stan, wife Sherry, sister Carolyn, step-children Stacy & Tyler, and grandson Tanner. The family would like to thank the many caregivers through homecare, the palliative homecare unit, and Foothills Home Services for the gentle, compassionate care he received during his final days at home. A gathering for remembrance and farewell will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm.
