Kenneth Anthony Kaip (September 26, 1952 - November 24, 2018) Ken passed away peacefully at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, Ottawa, Ontario with family by his side after a short, courageous struggle with cancer. Ken was born in Gladmar, Saskatchewan and raised in Minton. He joined the RCMP at the young age of 20 and had a great career for which he and his family were very proud. The pictures and memories of his RCMP graduation in Regina, with his Mom and several siblings attending, are treasures. Sergeant Ken Kaip had a fulfilling and rewarding career with the RCMP from 1972 until his retirement in 2004. He served in various Alberta communities, Nunavut and Ottawa Headquarters. He served as a rider and instructor/trainer on the RCMP Musical Ride for several years. It was a very special day in Ken's hometown of Minton, Saskatchewan when he arranged to have the Musical Ride perform at the local sports ground. It was the riders only day off, and testimony to Ken's character that they chose instead to spend it honouring him. The memory of Ken leading the horses and riders over the hill will never be forgotten by those who attended. Ken also served in Bosnia, deployed as a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping operations. Many colleagues from his work became his life long friends. After Ken's retirement from the RCMP, he worked for Veteran Security Services as a security escort, consultant and private investigator. Other jobs included Canada Post inspector, heavy equipment operator and commercial driver. He was a hardworking guy with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence in everything he did. Ken loved animals, especially his Musical Ride horses and his special cat, Munchkin. He had a wicked sense of humour and a volunteer heart, always willing and able to help out a friend, a relative, or a neighbor. He loved to socialize, entertain and cook for his friends. Ken was a lover of all sports and led a very active lifestyle that included marathon running, baseball and golf. He was a special Uncle to many, some of which were adopted family. Ken is predeceased by his parents, Joe & Kathleen Kaip (nee Gies); brother, Joseph Kaip; sister, Vera Jmaeff & brother-in-law, Andy Jmaeff; sister Clara Drouin; brother-in-law Morley Ferguson; brother-in-law Ray Harris. He is lovingly remembered and survived by: sister-in-law, Carol (Joseph) Kaip; sister Phyllis & Primo Villanueva; sister Elsie (Morley) Ferguson; sister Ethel & Leon Uytterhagen; sister Isabelle (Ray) Harris; numerous nieces and nephews, RCMP colleagues and many friends.
