Marjorie Wanner Obituary

Marjorie Wanner We are sad to announce the rather sudden passing of a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, niece, cousin and all around loved woman, Marjorie Faye Wanner. Marjorie passed away August 5, 2022 at the age of 72 years. Marjorie was predeceased by her father Forrest Burton Gilchrist; mother Gertrude Mary (Gascoigne) Gilchrist; and her sister Shirley Lamb. Marjorie leaves to mourn her husband Rick; son Darren (Therese); her daughter Terry (Al); sisters, Cathie (Doug), Laurie; her brothers: Andrew (Diane), Edward (Sandie), Jim (Theresa); grandchildren: Josh, Sydney, Harmony, Cadence, Kyle; as well aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Marj was born June 5, 1950 in Assiniboia, SK and after several moves settled with her family in Rouleau. Those early years weren't easy for the family but we believe that that's what helped mold Marj into the person she was. Marj graduated as a teacher and began her career in Rockglen, SK where she met and married the love of her life, Rick. Together they formed a formidable bond. She was fiercely proud of her children, Darren and Terry and followed them closely in their endeavors. She was always there both in good and bad results providing the joy and understanding only a mother can give. She had a deep love of nature and animals. Her flower displays and productive gardens showed this love. She carefully planted and nourished these works of nature to full bloom and production. The family would like to give thanks to the medical staff in Weyburn General Hospital and to Stars Air Ambulance for their professional assistance. A special thanks must go to the staff of the Medical Intensive Care unit. Dr. Zacharias and her staff who did all humanly possible to prevail but, despite their efforts, were not successful. A Celebration of Marjorie's life was held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, SK with Rev. Doug Loden officiating. Luncheon followed at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #47, 150 3rd Street, Weyburn, SK. Interment will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK. For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, #200 ~ 325 Manning Road, NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2PS or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit # 26 ~ 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9.
