Jeffrey Day Obituary

In the early morning of Thursday January 20th, 2022, Captain Jeffrey (Jeff) Day of the Georgina Fire Department passed away peacefully in his sleep in his home at the age of 43 years. Jeff had many passions, but none bigger than the love for his wife and their twin children. Devastated by this tragic loss are his wife Stephania Lycos and children Ana and Tommy, his mother Sharon Armstrong (kk hardtke), his father Barry Day (Susan), his parents-in-law Mary and Tom Lycos, Jeff's sister Stephanie Allen (Gordon), his brother Peter Day (Rachel) and sisters-in-law Dina Lycos (Telly) Eleni Syrakos (Tony), Stepbrother Derek Kijewski (Shannon) and Amanda Lind (Graeme). Greatly loved and missed by his nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and many friends including his fire family. Family was of foremost importance to Jeff. Beyond being a brother to his siblings, he was like a brother to his cousins, his friends, his fire family, his neighbours, and the entire community. A big, strong, goofy-fun guy with a massive heart - he would be there to help before you could you ask him. As a fire captain and executive union member with the GPFFA, he was committed to the welfare and safety of his fire brothers and sisters. Jeff aspired to be a chef when he was a boy; he first prepared an interesting mess of bacon and eggs at the age of 7 for Mother's Day. He later improved on his cooking skills, much to the enjoyment of friends, family, and colleagues, especially to his twins and wife as they waited for Daddy to make their favourites every day. The great father that he was, his goal was to make sure his children had everything. He loved being outdoors in nature, swimming and hanging out at Nine Mile Lake, and later hunting in the Moose Pasture and fishing with his buddies in Ontario and this past summer with his family in Bathurst, New Brunswick. He will be missed beyond words! Resting at the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton, from 2-9 p.m. today, Thursday, January 27, 2022. Due to covid restrictions, please call the funeral home at 905-722-3274 to confirm your attendance for visitation. A private family funeral service will be held.
