Thomas Todd Obituary

November 9, 1958 - July 14, 2022
Firefighter, friend, father, grandfather and son: As firefighters do, he fought the good fight, albeit a short one, and passed away as he chose, quickly and pain free! Left to share and cherish his many and unlimited recollections, details of life and his vast collection of stories are his father, Robert Ernest Todd; his brother, Richard Ernest Todd (Darci): his children: Shannon Daigle (Jeremy) and Bryan Todd, grandson Theo Daigle, his nieces Courtney Goodmurphy (Tyler, Lexi and Ayden) and Shelbi Todd. His many former colleagues, many of whom he called brothers, and friends retired from the Toronto Fire Department, the extended Todd Family and all whose lives Tom touched. Those loved by Tom and predeceased him are his mother, Joan Patricia Todd and his sister, Debra Todd Wetherall. A special thank you to Keith MacIsaac, friend, business associate and champion for Tom's coordinated care over the past few months, with whom Tom felt unconditional friendship, love, and compassion in his final days. Also of note is the love, support and care for Tom and Uncle Ernie by all of the related Todds' through the short journey during Tom's illness. Tom will be interred privately followed by a Celebration of Life honoring both he and his Mom who passed away last Fall. Arrangements entrusted to O'Neill Funeral Home of Stouffville.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Tommy Todd´s passing. Please accept my condolences. Tom was a fixture at Firehall 123 when I arrived there as a new captain. He was our most senior firefighter, a veteran´s veteran. He was always capable and professional during any emergency situation we were facing. At the hall he was a willing contributor, setting the example for the younger crew members. Off the job, I remember his kindness and generosity like when he took the whole crew to Blue Jays games on several occasions. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Thomas.

At times like this it is hard to find all the words that best convey our sympathies and many warm thoughts of Tom. I've known Tom since high school days and he was a good friend. Thinking of his family and friends warmly now and share this loss with you.

Affectionately known as Tommy to his many loyal brothers and sisters in the TFD, he would always come to work with a good attitude in spite of any of life´s challenges that we can all be exposed to. I was privileged to know him and delighted to work with him . I had looked forward to the many shifts we put in at station 123 . Tommy could find a bit of humour in just about any situation, usually making it less of a daunting task than it needed to be. Tommy was a very strong character and kept a lot of things close to himself . I can say that I have known very few people as honest and humble as Tommy. He was truly loved by his crew mates at station 123 .

My deepest heartfelt condolences to all of Tommy´s family. Tommy one of the hardest working Firefighters I ever had the pleasure to work with, first guy in last guy out! I will miss that big smile and his great sense of humour, oh and can´t forget the famous all you can eat pork roast suppers for under 3 bucks! Safe journey Tommy you will be remembered and missed!
