Victor Whiteley Obituary
Vic Whiteley of Markham will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet (nee Lawrie), dear daughters, Jennifer and Mike, Jacqui, Joanne and Darrin. "Pa" was namesake to grandson, Shepherd. Brother to Karen Hicks and special "Brother" to Tom Hollingworth. Born in England to Ernie and Phyllis, Vic arrived in Canada at age 15 with his cricket bat, always wondering why he didn't bring a fishing rod.
Vic and Janet raised their family on Main St. N. Markham for 53 years before moving down to condo life on Wilson St. Vic excelled at working with his hands, first as a lift truck mechanic and as the "Happy Stripper" restoring antiques. Kennisis Lake since 68 was Vic's happy place. He has pulled his boat ashore.
Friends will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham on Friday, September 2nd from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday in the chapel at 11 a.m. If desired, donations could be made to Parkview Home For Seniors where Vic received care with respect and Compassion; or to Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary, Haliburton because of his love for all animals; Or a Charity of Your Choice.

I´m so sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I met you a few times at Parkview . I´m sad to learn Victor passed away. He was always so kind to Nonno Gerry and always loved to chat.
I didn´t get to say goodbye to many of the residents (I got to know during the two years I visited) after Nonno passed away.

Janet, Jennifer and family, Victor was a breath of fresh air, every time we went to visits my father Garry, our entire family could count on a hellooooo and a joke from Victor! What a loss for Parkview to say goodbye to the two mayors of Settlers. Victor was a good and fast friend to my dad and our entire family was very sad to hear of this mighty man´s passing!

Although I never actually met Vic..I feel as if I knew him. Rip Vic....such a special man who instilled love of animals ...especially to his daughter Joanne!..fly high with the eagles Vic.
