Eugene "Gene" Junior

ROCKFORD, IL. Eugene "Gene" Junior, 94, was welcomed into heaven on Friday, May 8, 2015. Born August 1, 1920 in Amagon, Arkansas to Lee and Maud (Rousill). Gene was a veteran of the U.S.Army, serving in WWll.
He proudly acknowledged his military committment beyond serving in the war. He volunteered to shuttle veterans to and from the VA hospital in Madison. He faithfully sold poppies every Memorial Day weekend and continued to do so when he moved into RiverBluff Nursing Home. He was active with the Veteran VFW Post #342. His dedication to his country never waivered. He owned and operated Gene's Garage on the west side of Rockford. A master mechanic his skills were limitless, and he used them to help others in any capacity. Gene enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren and having them over whenever he was able. He found great pleasure in producing his vegetable garden, and everyone became a recipient of the fruits of his labor.

Survivors: children, Geri Frary, Robert (Sherry) Strange, Darrell Strange, William (Linda) Strange, Darlene (Butch) Swinbank, Danny Strange and Joe (Tempa) Strange; grandchildren, Billy, Matt, Chris, Kenny, Dave, Rodney, Mike, Bub, Bob Jr., Kimmy Jo, Ashley, Laurie, Tricia, Trina, Patricia, James Jr. and Lisa.. Predeceased by parents; wife Leona Junior; daughter, Willie Huff; granddaughter, Tammy McIntyre; sisters, twin sister, Corrine Junior, Madge Kaminski, Lillie Ford and Ila Addcox.
