Ms. Bessie E. McLiley, 89 of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at White Oak Manor of Charlotte. She was born June 8, 1932 in Charlotte, NC to the late Sophia McLiley. She was preceded in death by her brother, John McLiley.
Bessie graduated from West Charlotte High School with the Class of 1950. She later attended Johnson C. Smith University for two years and transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing to receive her degree as a registered nurse.
Bessie was employed at New York University Medical Center for 17 years as an Emergency Room Supervisor. She was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Usher, and Church Nurse.
Bessie was very active in the West Charlotte High School National Alumni Association, and member of the Chi Eta Phi Sorority. She was also associated with the American Red Cross.
