Not sure what to say?

The memories come flooding back as we remember the first time that we met you at 14th CRChurch when we were both members there and all of the times that we saw you throughout the years in Holland. Carl will be remembered for his musical excellence and his kindness toward students and friends. Our sympathy and prayers go out to you, Marg and your family. Jack and Ann Prins

I knew him as a teacher, a fellow Wolverine, even as a colleague. During my first few years out of high school, whenever I attended a music function and the conversation turned to our homes, I'd mention Holland, and people would knowingly smile and say, “did you play for Henry Vander Linde?”. When I said no (which wasn't precisely true--I did play a couple seasons in American Legion Band), I went to Holland High School and played for Carl Dephouse, they'd almost act disappointed. They...

I remember Mr. Dephouse so fondly . What a great teacher! I had him for band and have thought of him so many times through the years in raising my own children. I have confessed to them that Mr. Dephouse would call me "Jaws" since I talked out of turn so frequently. Now in reading of his going to be with the Lord, I can see where his kindness and patience stemmed from - his relationship with Jesus. Now he sees Him.
I still play my clarinet and can see him teach me in my...

Mr.Dephouse played a big part in my life.I had him for a band teacher at E.E.Fell Jr.High and at Holland High. He "pushed" me as well as other band members to bring out their musical talents in them.In my eyes he was a perfectionist and very dedicated to his students. I also had great respect for him as he did for every student he would teach.I think I seen him once since High School, but always thought of him when I would pick up and play the "Ole Trumpet" My deepest...

Dear Mrs Dephouse & family, I am so sorry to hear of Mr Dephouse's passing. My family lived down the street from you (West 15th) in the early 70's & I babysat your 2 older boys a few times. Mr Dephouse was a wonderful man & I have many happy memories of being in band my one & only year in the HHS band (1971-1972). He made us work hard and helped us understand how worthwhile the effort was. When I've had the opportunity to reunite with HHS class members, Mr Dephouse's name...

Dear Marg and Family,
We have many fond memories living on Birchwood. Our kids playing together and swimming together. The time we got together and watched "Roots". When we got together for bible studies with the Moms and kids. Carl had parkinsons for many years he is free at last in heaven. You and your family are in your thought and prayers.
With our sympathy,
Lee and Helene Nykamp and Family

To Carl's wife and family,
When I was in high school I had no knowledge of the possiblities of a career in music. When I was invited to be part of the MSBOA State Honors Band, my band director arranged for Carl to give me a ride to MSU for the rehearsal. Henry VanderLinde was conducting; this was a wonderful experience made possible only through the ride given me. The following year, again invited, again without transportation, Carl picked me up to give me a ride to the rehearsal. ...

and family

Carl's family and friends will be in my prayers as you deal with the grief of the passing of a family member and friend. I worked on the equipment staff with Carl before the Russian trip. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the trip due to family matters. I will always remember his pleasant attitude and eager helpfulness.
