Charles Chuck Watts

March 9, 1932 — February 26, 2017

Charles "Chuck" Watts, was a lifelong learner and had many different occupations during his lifetime. He retired as Coordinator of Special Education June 30th, 1994 after 14 years with the Hacienda La Puente School District he became a Leisure Travel Agent.

Chuck and his wife, Margaret, traveled the world together. They went to every continent except Antarctica that was his only travel regret. Instead of going to Antarctica with the Navy Seabees, he chose to come home and marry his sweetheart, Margaret on June 17th, 1956. Together they raised three children: Cheryl, John and their late son David. Chuck is survived by his grandchildren, Michael, Kandace, Kelsey and Samantha Watts.

Chuck was born in Bakersfield, CA on March 9, 1932 to James Allen Watts and Blanche Mathews Watts. He graduated from Fresno State University with his Masters Degree in Psychology and Counseling. He went on with his education at University of Southern California after serving in the Navy under the Seabees construction battalion. He took many courses at USC and almost earned his PhD.

Chuck was an avid reader. He enjoyed reading everything from the L.A Times comics to Archaeology magazine or Shakespeare. Chuck was an Arts enthusiast who passed on his love of classical music and art to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hiking and backpacking in the Rockies, especially with his uncle Charlie whom taught Chuck surveying skills. Together they surveyed most of Kern County. He was devoted to his family which delighted in the many celebrations and holidays at his home in West Covina, CA. There were many gatherings for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and for birthday celebrations. His wife, Margaret loves flowers and in his retirement years, Chuck took up gardening and enjoyed just being in the backyard, watching squirrels romping and an assortment of birds that stopped by the yard. He also had his daily ritual of picking up every leaf that fell from the tree.

A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30 am on March 10, 2017 at Forrest Lawn Covina Hills in the Church of Our Heritage. Reverend Roy Bullock will officiate. Flowers may be sent to Forrest Lawn Covina Hills.
