It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear father, Domenic "Eddie" Saraceno. He transitioned peacefully into our Lord's care after battling several ailments at 92 years young.

Dad was born to Sicilian immigrants Joseph Saraceno and Rosina Tringali on February 29, 1928. Together, they raised a family of 4 boys and 2 girls in Lynn, Massachusetts on 39 Wheeler Street.

Dad always recalled his early childhood as exciting and filled with "life's little lessons". Along with his pals, known as the "Brickyard Gang" they forged friendships that truly lasted a lifetime and were one of his prized possessions. "Friends to the end" as Dad would say.

During his time at Classical High School in the late 40's, Domenic got his first part time job in retail sales, working for Thom McAn shoe company. As his career started to grow within the company it would soon be interrupted by the Korean conflict which was now in full swing.

Domenic was drafted into the US Army and served honorably and proudly for 2 years within the 17th infantry, company C, "Buffalo Regiment". On November 9th, 1951 Dad was ceremonially presented with the United States Armed Services, Bronze Star Medal, for valor and heroic achievement at the battle of Chup'a-Fyong Korea. The fourth highest military decoration for Valor presented in the armed services.

After the conflict ended, he returned to Thom McAn and jumped at the opportunity to help expand the company West, landing him permanently in Los Angeles.

While working in Los Angeles Domenic met his wife-to-be, Jenny Porco, at a mutual friend's wedding. After a brief courtship, they married at St. Paul the Apostle church in 1955. He always used to say, "Your mother got me through my stomach!" Mom was such a great cook and baker!

They settled in Burbank, CA where they raised a family of five. Mom was a teacher with LAUSD and they both worked extremely hard to provide a quality of life and a home that was filled with fun, love, sturdy furniture and backed by a strong Catholic education.

Dad had an infectious personality. When he entered the room, you could feel it. It was his signature card. His positive, loving, caring and warm personality was his trademark in life and the smile on your face was the receipt. He taught us to love history, respect others, work hard, dress well, be reliable, expect the unexpected, be on time and…… be funny!

He loved a good laugh and had a witty sense of humor. He was a man of a thousand 'one-liners', a legacy that has now been passed onto two generations. There isn't a family gathering that passes without someone quoting Dad like,

"To make a long story longer...", or while toasting "Giva-yell, Giva-yell, Giva big substantial yell."

Who could forget his timeless wise counsel, "Where there's a will, there's Relatives!"

In 1994, Dad retired from Thom McAn with 49 years of dedicated service. He was a company man since his early days in Lynn and will forever be known as the
"King of 548 S. Broadway."

Dad's retirement years were selflessly devoted to his kids and grandkids. If there was an award for the number of parties, sporting events, chaperone trips to Washington DC, musicals, school fieldtrips, award ceremonies, bingo, caravanning back and forth to schools, he would be in the "Dad's" Hall of Fame!

His commitment to family gave Dad the most pleasurable moments in life. He was also an excellent traveler and accompanied us on many family vacations. Whether it was going across the country, to Hawaii, National Parks, cruises, Lake Arrowhead, or Italy, Dad was the best 'side-kick' we could ask for. We will cherish those memories forever.

He and Mom shared a love of Italian music. They met weekly at their favorite LA restaurants with a group of dear friends, many who were very talented musicians and singers in their own right. This love of Opera music created a deep bond among them all that lasted over four decades.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Saraceno, sister Carmela and brothers Bobby and Pete. He is survived by brother Joseph, sister Roberta, and his five children: Rosemarie and her husband, Danny, Domenic Jr, (Dino) and Kim, Jack and his wife, Pam; Joann; Frank and his wife, Patricia.

His cherished grand-children are: Diana and her husband, Morgan; Wendy and her husband, Lupe; Danny, Jr.; Domenic III (Nick) and his mother, Theresa Sobocinski, Frank, Jr., Joseph, Natalie, Paul, and step-grandchildren Anne and her husband, Dave; Gilbert; Stephanie and her husband, Sean; 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at Forest Lawn (Hollywood) on Wednesday, May 20th.
