Eda's Obituary

Eda Ruth (Dillon) Ridgway, 73, of rural Akron, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at her home with her loving husband, Leo, by her side.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.  Pastor Susan Juilfs of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron will officiate.  Social distancing and wearing a mask will be required.  Visitation with the family present will be on Monday, November 9, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron with social distancing and wearing a mask.  Additional services be held in North Platte, Nebraska with burial in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.  

In lieu of flowers, her request was memorials be made her name for breast cancer and pancreatic cancer research.  

Eda Ruth Dillon was born January 7, 1947 in North Platte, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Gormly) Dillon.  She graduated from Maywood High School in 1964 and attended McCook Community College for a while to further her education.

She married the love of her life, Leo Ridgway on June 17, 2016.

She worked various jobs but the one she enjoyed the most was when she was an over-the-road truck driver.  She was able to visit all the continental states and even went into Canada.

She also enjoyed working in her “big” garden when her health allowed and spending time with her special granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, Leo of rural Akron; a son: Thom (Angie) Worth of Wellfleet, NE; 2 special granddaughters: Charlee Grace and Kady Rose; a step daughter: Christina (Kendall) Verhage of Gretna, NE; 13 step grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Dillon.
