Elgie Louise Moore

November 15, 1948 — October 4, 2021

Elgie Louise Moore was born November 15, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Henry L. and Pauline Byrd. She was one of five children. Louise was a lifelong resident of the state of California. She grew up and completed her education in Los Angeles, California. She confessed hope in Christ at a young age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church.

On March 22, 1968, she married the love of her life, Fred Moore, Jr. To this union, one son, Graig Branton Moore, was born. Louise and Fred were happily married for over 50 years until they were separated by the death of Fred in October of 2018.

Louise had a wonderful sense of style and fashion. She enjoyed music, travel, and spending time with family and friends. She also had a fondness for and enjoyed spending time with the family pets, namely Army (her turtle) and Winston (her dog). Over the years, and until her health failed, Louise had several occupations from manufacturing carpets to customer service. In addition to working outside the home, Louise always provided a loving home for her family. Her family was her passion. She loved watching her son and, subsequently, her grandsons in their sporting activities. Whether their games were near or far, she was right there to cheer and support them in their efforts. Louise often spoke of how proud she was of all of her boys—her son, who she lovingly referred to as her Sonshine, her grandsons, and great-grandson. To know Louise was to love her. She had a beautiful smile which dulled only in comparison to her loving heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

On Monday, October 4, 2021, Louise transitioned from this life as a loving mother, granny, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. The angels came and carried her to a better place where there will be no more pain, sickness, or suffering. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, her brothers Henry and Bennie Byrd, and a sister, Pearl Ann Moore.

To cherish the loving memories of her life, she leaves a devoted son, Graig Moore; a devoted daughter-in-law, Brandi Moore; grandsons Jalen, Damien, and DeAndre (DJ) Moore; and a great-grandson, Dezmond James Moore. She also leaves a loving sister, Jackie Lindsey, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4
