Elza Anne Lee

November 17, 1931 — September 23, 2021

Elza Anne Lee was born on Nov. 17, 1931 to Daniel and Lai Shee Hall, the second of 13 brothers and sisters. Early on, she attended California Street Elementary School prior to her family moving to Los Angeles Chinatown, where she would eventually transfer to Castelar Elementary School. Upon graduation from Castelar, she then attended Central Jr. High School and later, Belmont High School. After graduating from Belmont, she furthered her education at UCLA, majoring in Business Administration, with a minor in Finance. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952, she then held a number of jobs before eventually landing at the City of Los Angeles. Working her way up through the Police Department as well as the Bureau of Right of Way and Land, she eventually landed at the Department of Animal Regulation where she spent the bulk of her working years until her retirement as the Department's General Manager in 1993. Upon her retirement from the City after 35 years of service, she relocated with her husband to Las Vegas, NV, where she lived until her untimely death.

Elza and Eddie met in their teens and began dating in high school. After 13 years of courtship, they finally got married in 1959 and shortly thereafter, began their family. Andrea was born in 1960 and Kevin arrived two short years later. In addition to raising her two children, Elza was an avid bowler and golfer that won many trophies during her years playing. She also enjoyed traveling with her many friends and relatives to various parts of the country and world. During her later years, her favorite pastime became visiting local casinos near her home in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, to eat at the buffets or to gamble on her favorite poker machines.

Elza passed away on September 23, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 89. She is survived by her husband Eddie, daughter Andrea (Derek Young), son Kevin (Jill), granddaughter Kristyn, thirteen brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
