Emily's Obituary

Emily Joy (Boortz) Green, age 41, of Mason, Michigan passed away on August 1st, 2019, at Stoneleigh Hospice of Lansing. Emily was born on March 28, 1978 to Gary and Barbara Boortz. She grew up in Mason and graduated from Mason High School in 1996. Emily then attended Michigan State University and Jackson Community College, where she earned her certificate in Vascular Sonography. She worked as a Vascular Sonographer for most of her adult life and enjoyed working in the healthcare profession, she liked to be able to help people and make a difference in their lives. She lived mainly in the mid-Michigan area but also lived in both Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado at different points in her life. She enjoyed going on road trips, laughing with her friends and family, and finding dragonflies wherever she could.

Emily is preceded in death by her father, Gary Paul Boortz. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Barbara and Arthur Kowalk; her daughter Madeline Jeanell Green and her son Quinn Jacob Green, and their father, Jacob Green; her brothers, William (Wanda) Jason Boortz and Maximilian Bachman Boortz; and her step-siblings, Robert Wilson Kowalk and Sandra Jean Kowalk-Thompson.
