Frances "Frankie"'s Obituary

Mrs. Frances “Frankie” Vaughter Cardwell, 74, of 1210 14th Street, Lynchburg, Va., departed this life early Monday morning, April 12, 2021, at UVA Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va.

As a member of Rose Chapel Baptist Church, of Madison Heights, Va., she served as a faithful member of the Echos of Joy and Senior Choirs. Frances graduated from Central High School in Amherst, Va., and later attended Central Virginia Community College (CVCC). Frances worked for Paktron in Lynchburg, Va. over 20 Years and would later retire from the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Altavista, Va. after 30 years of service.

She was the daughter of the late Deacon Saunders and the Rev. Sally Vaughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E Cardwell; two brothers, Lamont “Crannie” C. Vaughter and Lawrence A Vaughter; and two sisters, Margo “Sissie” V. Carter and Guido V. Robinson.

She is survived by one son, Orrin Keith Cardwell of Mableton, Ga.; two daughters, LaTanya Cardwell McCaine (Wayne) of Kernersville, N.C., and Scharvee Cardwell Smith (Brian) of Cary NC; two grandchildren, Bishop Oshwann and SaCarra Zhayne Smith, both of Cary, N.C.; two step-grandchildren, Lacey McCaine-Quarles (Darin) of Frederick, Colo., and Mariah T. McCaine of Roanoke, Va.; one great-grandchild, Lavender Tianna Hicklin of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Frances R. Vaughter of Macomb, Mich., Arnetha “Poochie” Pitt (David) of Philadelphia, Pa., and Beverly “Be-Be” C. Huggins (Wayne) of Roanoke, Va.; one brother-in-law, Otis Turner (Linda) of Lynchburg, Va.; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2021, at Rose Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will be held at the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the church. Please continue to follow the rules and regulations for COVID-19. Masks are required.
