Obituary

Garr's Obituary

Garr Junior Bland, age 84, of Seneca Rocks, WV, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born on December 10, 1935, in Brushy Run, WV, the son of the late Titus and Margie (Mallow) Bland. On December 31, 1962, Garr married Velma (Miller) Bland, who survives in Seneca Rocks, WV.

 

Mr. Bland attended Brushy Run Schoolhouse and was a member of the Onego Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, Bonanza, and Westerns, and he loved hunting and fishing. Garr had worked at Stoney River Dam and he retired from Greer Lime in 2002, after 37 years. He was a Veteran of the US Army.

 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bland is survived by: his children, Caroline Hoffman (Ronnie) Seneca Rocks, WV, Orville Bland (Ann) of Seneca Rocks, WV, Brady Bland (Joyce) of Franklin, WV, Elvis Bland (Betsy) of Seneca Rocks, WV, Brandy Bland (Jarod Heavener) of Circleville, WV; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Glenn and Foster Bland; 2 sisters, Hope Day and Joy Warner; and a grandson, Ashley Bland.

 

Mr. Bland's family will receive friends on Thursday, February 27, 2020, 4-6 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Greg Adamson officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard and US Army representatives. Memorials may be made to the family, c/o Basagic Funeral Home, POB 215, Franklin, WV 26807.
