Not sure what to say?

Dear White Family - Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. White, I heard from his former Burlington Junior College classmates and other local admirers that he was a wonderful man and the best in his field. We here at Southeastern Community College (successor institution to BJC) wish to share our sympathies with you all. Sincerely, Becky Rump, Executive Director, SCC Foundation and Alumni Association

I was sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. White. Through the support of his scholarship, a number of Burlington High School students have been able to afford to attend the University of Iowa. As a result of his generosity, their lives will be forever changed and their dreams will be realized. I can't help but think that they too will pay it forward as he did for them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Jack Wail, Counselor, Burlington HS

I was a recipient of the White Family Hawkeye Scholarship. I enjoyed very much getting to know Blair and our many talks at the Hawkeye luncheons. Without his support and generosity, I would not be where I am at in life today. I will be forever grateful. God bless you Blair.

I was so sorry to hear of Blair's passing. My son was a recipient of the Blair White Family Scholarship. He would not of been able to go to college if he had not received the scholarship-but more important than that, was that my son became friends with Blair and got to know him through the University of Iowa Alumni Dinners. Matt thought the world of Blair and because of what Blair had done for him, Matthew always told me, 'I hope that I can do for someone else what Blair has done for...

Blair was the All-State center of our Burlington High School league championship football team of 1945,member of the state championship declam team and debate team, lead actor in the senior class play Twelfth Night and just plain "Fuzz" to his proud classmates! A "one of a kind friend".

My deepest sympathy to Brian&Peggy White and their entire family. To lose a legal, business legend is sad, to lose a father is devastating. I pray the warm wash of memories ease the ache in your hears. Fondly, Kathleen Shanahan

Blair was my friend and partner for many years, and I treasure that friendship. Blair's high standards contributed enormously to our firm. His courage in dealing with his health problems was inspiring. His example will always be as a most honorable, gifted lawyer who sought justice and loved the law. Newt Minow

Blair was instrumental in recruiting me at Sidley in the Fall of 1970. In my 40-plus years at the Firm Blair was my boss, my mentor, my teacher and my friend. He was an inspired and inspirational leader. He and Joan were a model couple, who with sons Blair and Brian, had a model family every young lawyer aspired to have. In his later years, Blair overcame adversity with the same courage and positive attitude he had throughout his career. Blair, Joan and their entire family are in my...

Blair White and his family's generosity to me have deeply impacted my life. He will be greatly missed.
