Forest Lawn - Glendale Obituary

Helen Sylvia DeRuiter, 83, born on January 1, 1938, in Lithuania, passed away April 10, 2021, from Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer)

She resided in Lake Forest, CA at the time of her passing, however, she as a long time resident living in Tujunga, CA.

Helen is survived by her sister, Renata, daughter, Diana, son, Bob and her three grandchildren, Hailey, Mikaela and Rob. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don, her parents and her sister.

She lived a wonderful life, traveling all over the world with the love of her life Don. She was collected thimbles and had such a great time with the wonderful friendships she made with that group. She loved her family and friends, she was caring, gentle, intelligent, fun and such a special person and mother.

She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 9:30 Friday May 21, 2021.

I’m going to really miss you grandma. You were always there for us no matter what, welcoming with open arms. You will always have a special place in my heart. I’m going to miss your humor and positive attitude, may you finally be at peace with Don.

Helen was a wonderful lady and was always willing to help out when needed. I've know her for over 30 years
as a member of our So. Calif. Thimble Collectors club. She will really be missed. My condolences to her family.
