Helen and Don were such wonderful neighbors. Always helpful and a smile whenever you needed one. My thoughts and prayers are to the family and neighborhood family. The Monroe Street neighbors are the best.

I remember Mrs Liss from we lived Summit ave around the corner on Monroe, she was always smiles. To this day I can still recall her laugh. My Mom, Josephine & Dad, John were friends with Mr. & Mrs. Liss back in the day.

Helen's Obituary

Helen C. Liss, nee Braun, 96 years of age, long time resident of Villa Park passed peacefully at home on July 19, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband Don and her parents, William and Catherine (Sullivan) Braun, her brothers William and James Braun and her sister Sr. Marie Ralph(Margaret) Braun O.P.  She is survived by her children Paula Bailey, Donald F. Liss, Jeffrey W. Liss, Lawrence J. Liss ,  Denise H. Liss and her grandchildren Amelia Machacek, Roy Liss, Cameron Liss, Torri Hieber, Caitlyn Liss, Walter Hieber and Natasha Senecal as well as many nieces and nephews,

Helen was born and raised on S. Green St. in Englewood and attended Visitation grade and high school remaining a true “Viz” girl her entire life.  Moving to Villa Park in 1949 she and Don became early members of St. Alexander Parish where she was active in CCW, Mary’s Circle and Prayer Blanket ministries. Her ready laugh and lovely smile endeared her to many.

Visitation Wednesday July 22,2020 at Steuerle Funeral Home 350 S.Ardmore Ave. Villa Park,IL. 60181 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral prayers Thursday 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home. Mass 10:15 at St. Alexander Church 300 S. Cornell Ave. Villa Park,Il. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Hillside, Il. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions all visitors to the funeral home must wear masks and practice social distancing.There is a 50 person limit in the funeral home at any given time.
