Not sure what to say?

he was my dear friend for many many years did many things while working with Western Union with him, I also had 30 years service as he did. Also was working as Sale representative, as myself for Western Union, since we both retired about the same time stayed in touch with each other, and had just recently talked to him last week. A wonderful friend to me as his wife Norma and his brother in-law Leon Slocumbe and his wife Pat. My wife and offering our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to his...

Hugh was a my second dad. He taught me about the power of a handshake and being yourself. Hugh showed how you could be a great salesman without being pushy or aggressive. He succeeded because he "knew the products and they liked me". That was a lesson I learned from him and do my best to practice that in my day to day life today.

I also learned at a young age what kindness and generosity looked like from a man that was always there to support me along with my Aunt Norma...

So sorry to hear of Hughs passing, Hugh Norris Powell was a fine man, we knew him through his brother Albert, also a fine man. We were glad to have known him.

Hugh is and was a close friend. He was a member of the "HIGH ROLLERS" . five old Western Union coworkers and friends that made several trips together to Louisana to teach the casino's a lesson. Also to remove a lot of fish from Lake Limestone and exchange quarters , nickels and dimes in high limit poker games (no pennies allowed) at our lake trips. Goodbye my friend, will see you later on down the road.

We are so sorry for your loss. Please accept our deepest condolences. May you find comfort in the beautiful memories.

Our deepest condolences to the Powell Family for this tremendous loss. May your hearts remain filled with memories of joyful times together in celebration of a life well lived. I really appreciated his genuine and kind attitude towards all those who surround him. He will be missed.

Dearest Norma, Susan and family. Im so sorry for your loss. Hugh was a kindhearted & sweet man. They didnt come much better than him. All of you are in my prayers!

There are some friends you never forget, and Hugh was one of them! Even as neighbors 45 years ago, Hugh was an easy going man, slow to anger and enjoyed showing up the "younger" men playing basketball. The Powells and Slocumbs formed a united family of love which has remained strong throughout the years and we know Hugh will be greatly missed. Our love to Norma, Pat, Leon, Susan, Julie, Jeff and the rest of the family. Leon and Sandra

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Hugh 40 years ago at Western Union. I was 18 years old. He always looked out for me and was a very kind man. May he rest in God's peace in heaven.
