Hugo Fernando Zapata, 78, born in Lima, Peru, passed away September 28, 2020 at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, California.

Hugo came to the United States from Lima Peru, in 1962 and resided in Los Angeles, California. In the summer of 1964 he met his wife Diana and the two were married in the winter that same year. They lived in Atwater Village for the early part of their marriage, ultimately moving to Burbank, California in 1970 where they lived until his passing. Once married, Hugo took a job at an Automotive parts company, where he learned the trade and later went on to open his own business. He owned and operated his business for 30 years maintaining stores in Los Angeles, Orange County and in Tijuana, Mexico.

Hugo and Diana loved to cruise the world, they travelled to Asia, Europe, South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, Greenland, Iceland and Africa. Hugo had an immense love and passion for family. Nothing made him happier than having his entire family together, especially if it involved his grandchildren. He was always the life of the party and the person people sought out for advice in every facet t of life. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed.

He is predeceased by his Father Armando Zapata, Mother Zelmira Zapata-Sologuren, his brothers Armando and Rolando Zapata and his sister Zelmira Zapata.

He is survived by his wife Diana Zapata, daughter Annette Zapata-Mongelli, son Joseph Zapata, Son-in-law Joseph, Daughter-in-law Denise and his five grandchildren Christian, Dominic, Tyler, Savannah and Luciana, his Brother Mario Zapata , his wife Mary his Sister Rosario Zapata de Figueroa and his many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The America Cancer Society (in memory of Hugo F. Zapata, to go toward research to help fight Non-Hodgkin's T-Cell Lymphoma). You may donate by copying and pasting the link below to your browser:
