Isaiah Fernando Negrete

November 4, 1979 — August 19, 2018

Isaiah Fernando Negrete was born on November 4, 1979 in the city of San Gabriel to both Freddy Negrete and Patricia Covarrubias. Isaiah leaves behind his only son, Dominic Gutierrez, also known as Little Isaiah, his siblings Eddie, Sarah, Joel, Joseph, Jesse, and Elizabeth. Isaiah now joins his youngest brother Lorenzo in Eternal Paradise.

Isaiah was a kind and generous soul who brought joy and laughter to all who encountered him. His radiant smile and commanding presence was a testament to his love of life, and faith in God. Isaiah cherished his relationship with others and loved people. Upon meeting him one could not resist his magnetism, hence why so many people loved him. Non confrontational, respectful, and always happy made friendship with Isaiah a lasting and meaningful experience.

Isaiah was raised in the tattoo world, a true child of the industry, brought up by great and legendary artists. Born with talent he began his career at an early age, doing his first professional tattoo at the age of 14. Unwilling to work in the shadow of others Isaiah found his niche, and forged his own style of detailed fine line tattoos creating his own legacy. His work was sought out by many and his celebrity clientele was vast. His place in our lives and our industry will go down in the annals of tattoo history. Isaiah is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A Reflection from Sarah Marenco, Sister
Thank you for taking the time to visit Isaiah's Obituary website and for sharing your stories and memories of our beloved brother, Isaiah Negrete.

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Sarah and I am Isaiah's sister. I'd like to take time to thank all of you for the outpouring love and prayers our family received. Isaiah has a lot of friends and touched the lives of many and we've seen first-hand, the thousands of people all over the world who love our brother dearly.

My very first memories as a child, are with my brothers Eddie and Isaiah. I was 4, Isaiah was 5 and Eddie was 10 years old. Isaiah and I are 14 months apart, so needless to say, most of my childhood memories are with him. As a child, Isaiah liked to play with his transformers and would pretend to be Superman. He would use a bath towel as a cape and leap into the air from couch to couch. We grew up watching all the classic 80's movies. ET, The Karate Kid, and the Never-ending Story were Isaiah's favorites. The leading roles in each movie were all young boys so inevitably, we always pretended it was Isaiah in each movie. For the longest time, I used to think Isaiah could play the role of Ralph Machio, because they both had thick, coarse, dark-brown hair, they were both tan and had a charming personality.

Isaiah was genuinely kind-hearted and compassionate and you could see this from a young age. He had a sweet, tender heart that drew you to him. I remember Isaiah singing along to Whitney Houston's "Greatest Love of All". This was one of his favorite songs. We would both stand in front of our TV and sing along to her music video. That song truly captures the very essence of our brother. Beauty, laughter, and love is what Isaiah embodied.

Isaiah's creativity and talent as an artist, was noticed at a early age. He was always drawing with precision and paid close attention to detail. In the 8th grade, Isaiah chose art as an elective. I remember when he submitted his first assignment. I can't remember the exact drawing, but it involved a horse. What I do remember was the soft, blended and smooth shading around the image from his pencil. A few days later, Isaiah told me that his art teacher was impressed by his work. Isaiah's teacher said that he applied the skills and techniques all in one drawing that would normally take a whole school year to cover in class.

Over the next few years, Isaiah continued to develop his natural talent, which took him to new places including Santa Barbara, Hawaii and later Hollywood. Along the way making impressions on many people he met. We were so happy when Isaiah moved back to Los Angeles. During the time Isaiah began working at Tattoo Mania, I was attending college. It was a busy time for both of us, but when the holidays came around, we always made time to be together.
Isaiah made time to drive from Hollywood to Chino Hills late, usually around 3am so that we could celebrate special occasions or just hang out.

Thanksgivings are most memorable. My mornings would always begin with a wake-up call to Isaiah along with a picture of my Turkey going into the oven. When Isaiah arrived to our house, he would always serve himself a huge plate of food and would never leave room for dessert. Within 15 minutes after eating, I would find Isaiah and our brother Joseph passed out on the couch in a food coma, watching the end of some football game. Isaiah would do the exact same thing during Christmas with his favorite beef tamales from Sandra's with our mom's fried egg on top.

Our oldest son Little Sal is 8 years old and loves to draw, so we got him a sketch book for this drawings. Knowing Isaiah to be a artist, before going to bed, Little Sal would leave his notebook open on his desk and remind me to send Uncle Isaiah a picture of what he worked on earlier in the day. Isaiah was always so positive and patient with our children.

In the most recent years, Isaiah developed a stronger bond with our two younger twin brothers Joel and Joseph. Joel had the opportunity to travel and work with Isaiah at Tattoo conventions in New Mexico and Hawaii. The pictures these two would send us of themselves on the beach, looked like a photo-shoot from a magazine. I was so happy they had this time together. As my brother Joseph grew up, he developed a liking for Isaiah's fine-line, black and grey tattoos. Joseph became a blank canvas for Isaiah's talent to be capsulated. I couldn't believe how much work Isaiah did in a short amount of time. The Crucifix, roses, and Bible verses were the last pieces Isaiah completed. Whether it was a custom image or script,Isaiah's use of black and grey style was forever captured on Joseph.
More recently, Isaiah was able to spend time with our eldest brother, Eddie. It didn't matter how long their lives had been apart from each other, because Isaiah loved Eddie unconditionally.

It was easy to love Isaiah and it was the greatest feeling to be loved by him. The light that Isaiah brings to each one of us, is the light that is going to guide and comfort us in the days to come. My hope is that each one of us will make Isaiah proud by sharing the gifts he brought into our lives. Compassion, laughter, and love is what we can give to others in the name of our brother, Isaiah.
