OBITUARY - JAMES PATRICK DYRNESS
James Patrick Dyrness, 75, died peacefully at his home, in Glendale, CA, Friday, January 4, 2019. A vigil service is scheduled for Thur. Jan. 17th 7pm, with funeral services scheduled for Friday Jan. 18th, 10am, at Incarnation Catholic Church, 1001 N Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA. His burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA.
Jim was born June 25, l943 in New Rockford, ND to Leonard and Myrtle Dyrness. He was the 5th child of a family of 9 boys and 2 girls. He graduated from St. James High School, New Rockford, in 1961 and moved to Glendale, CA shortly thereafter. Jim attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College and worked in the family automotive business. From 1972 to 2013 he and brothers, Ron, LJ, and Jack were partners in Dyrness Automotive, Glendale CA. While in business, they were very active in Glendale community development and services.
Jim married Connie Hendrickson, from Sheyenne, ND on June 27th 1964 and they have 2 children, Michael Dyrness, Minnetonka, MN and Michelle Stumpp (Erich) Acton, CA, also 4 grandsons, Justin, Quinn, Griffin and Connor.
Jim has been very active with his parish, Incarnation Catholic Church, since becoming a member in the early 1960's. Along with much charitable work with his parish, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent DePaul, and Catholic Food Pantry, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and remained involved in many Glendale community organizations over the years. He was known by many to be "Mr. Dependable". You could often find Jim and Connie distributing donuts to parish members after Sunday Mass.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Connie, who was the love of his life, his parents, and 4 brothers, Raymond, Donald, Rudolph and Timothy. He is survived by his 2 children, 4 grandsons, and 6 siblings, Roland (Pat), Burbank, CA, Lauretta Babineau, Victorville, CA, Leonard (Susie), Victorville, CA, Jack (Kathy), Burbank, CA, Ralph, Valley City, ND, and Leona Fox, Newport Beach, CA.
