James Victor Olivere

Our loving father James Olivere, 76, who was born on July 21, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, September 13th, 2018. James, "Jim" courageously succumbed to a fiercely fought 2 1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a long-time resident of Palm Desert, California at the time of his passing. Jim will always be remembered for his love of family. He married Cheryl in 1980 and together they enjoyed raising their 4 children, Lori, Tricia, Derek, and Holly. Jim was a diehard Los Angeles Dodgers fan, NFL Football fan, and an overall sports enthusiast. He spent over 57 years working in the Home Furnishings business and has traveled the world for his work. Our dad had an amazing sense of humor and was a great storyteller. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years his "Cheryl Mae". James is leaving behind four children. His oldest daughter Lori, wife to Keith Medlin from Webster Groves, Missouri. His youngest daughter Tricia, wife to Scott Stanier from Murrieta, CA. His son Derek Bakarich, husband to Staci from Duluth, Georgia; The youngest of four is our sweet Holly Bakarich, from Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by Patricia Filley, the mother of Jim's two daughters Lori and Tricia. Jim's beloved grandchildren are Jamie, Matthew, Marissa, and Renee Medlin, Sydney and Ian Stanier, Kai and Parker Bakarich, and Foster and William Eddy. In 2013, Jim became a great-grandfather to James Gregory and again in 2016 to Olivia Jane. James was preceded in death by his loving parents Nick and Vita Olivere, and his loving sister Carolyn Champlin. He is survived by his loving and devoted sister Diane and her husband Mike Provenzano. Uncle Jimmy was beloved to all of his nephews Dean, Danny, Todd, Michael, Joseph, and Steve. As well as to his beloved niece Christine. He was loved by all of their spouses and children as well. He was dearly loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, California.
