John G. Alvarez "Johnny", Indio CA - On Saturday February 16, 2019, John Alvarez passed away with dignity at his home in Indio CA at the age of 79. At the time of his passing John was surrounded with love by his wife of 57 years, Hortencia B. Alvarez, 4 daughters, Karen Gonzalez, Lupita Eves, Joann Alvarez and Diane Pulsifer and loved ones. John is survived by his siblings Vicente, Carmen, Lupe & Rose "Challo", 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many dear family members and friends. He was predeceased in life by his father and mother, sisters Victoria & Maria, and brothers Salomon, Jesus & Trini.

John was born October 31, 1939 in Los Volcanes Jalisco Mexico, came to the U.S. at a young age, graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 1960 and lived in the Coachella Valley for most of his life. Recently retired, he proudly enjoyed a long career in agriculture where he was able to spend time in nature and he cultivated many friendships throughout the years.

Dearest Johnny / Dad, we thank you for your love and for always providing for us. You are forever in our hearts and you are greatly missed. Rest in peace.

Services for Johnny will be held at: The Visitation is Wednesday, February 27th, 5pm-9pm with the Celebration of Life Service starting at 6pm at Forest Lawn - Coachella. The funeral service is Thursday, February 28th, 10am-11am at Forest Lawn - Coachella, with the burial to follow at Coachella Valley Cemetery.
