Louise's Obituary

Louise Green, 88, died peacefully Saturday, September 18, 2021 surrounded by her family. Born in Bear Grass, NC, she had been a Buckroe Beach resident since 1951. She was a longtime member of Buckroe Baptist Church. Many people will remember her waiting on them at the Oasis Restaurant, Fertitta’s in Phoebus, or at Keith’s Dockside. She was a 31 year member of the Hampton Chapter 349 Women of the Moose.

Louise was the best mom in the whole world and she adored her family. She was the best Wolly Bully dancer and shuffleboard player. She never met a stranger and always rooted for the underdog.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Mantis and Jerry Moore, a granddaughter, Jessica Louise Smith, and six siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Rosie Maynor (Keith), Penny Mantis, Brenda K. Smith (Kirby), and Terri Rutherford (Robert); ten grandchildren, Thomas (Kelli) and Vincent Seidnitzer, Amie Rosario, Russell (Jamie) and Jimmie Jack Smith, Joanna (Elliud) Garcia, Katie (Nick) Maynor-Swan, and Michael, Chad, and Jamie (Gabby) Peele; sixteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her faithful dog, Shula.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Buckroe Baptist Church by Rev. Eddie Heath. A reception will follow at the Hampton Moose Lodge, 207 E. Mercury Blvd.

Memorials may be made to the American SIDS Institute, St. Jude, or the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hiotellis for his many years of care for Louise and her family, Kirby for all of the special things you did for mom over the years, and Kathy Meier for all the help she gave the family while Louise was in hospice. They are also very appreciative of all the support of many, many others.
