Luciana Victoria Mcloughlin

September 9, 1924 — January 9, 2022

Luciana V. McLoughlin nee Tavolara, 97, passed away peacefully January 9, 2022 in Thousand Oaks, CA. Luciana, known as Lu, was born to the late August and Adele Tavolara on September 9, 1924 at home in their victorian inspired home referred to as the "Castle", on the grounds of Mutillod Exotic Nursery in Secaucus, NJ. She graduated Demarest High School, Hoboken, NJ with aspirations of studying Fashion at Traphagen School of Fashion in New York. Although Lu completed fashion courses at Parsons in New York, her true calling was as a doting mother and in the family business, Tito's Old Inn, Secaucus, NJ where she served in multiple capacities, ultimately owner/manager following the death of her brother George Tavolara. She managed Tito's until it's closing in 1978. In 2005 Luciana moved to California to be near her first granddaughter, Alexa, settling in Thousand Oaks.

Luciana is survived by three children: Dr. Lucille McLoughlin, San Antonio, TX; Joseph McLoughlin, San Diego, CA; and Maureen Goldberg, Los Angeles, CA, son-in-law George Goldberg, Los Angeles, CA and daughter-in-law Diana McLoughlin. She is also survived by granddaughters Alexa Goldberg, NYC; and Caitlin Hazlett, Novato, CA; grandsons John Carey, Denver, CO and James Carey, San Diego, CA and great granddaughter Jovie Hazlett, Novato, CA.

Luciana was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed the history of fashion and current fashion; food and wine and cookbooks of every cuisine; travel adventures; and entertaining and style. She was known from an early age for her personal sense of style, and was an excellent cook always willing to put out an extra plate. What she enjoyed most was being with family, cherishing every moment together. Holidays with family, especially Christmas, were always a special time for her.

Viewing Ceremony will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, CA. Memorial Service and Burial will follow.
