What an exemplary example Maggie was for us all..May our heavenly Father bless the family with Peace,Comfort,and Strength to endure the days ahead.

Oh my, Doc was my dentist when my parents moved to Newport News in 1978 but she was also my spiritual sister. I remember her gorgeous face and wonderful personality from my childhood. I look forward to seeing her in Paradise.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Maggie's Obituaries

Mrs. Maggie Ruth Barnes Wooten, age 75, slipped peacefully away into rest with her family by her side on Thursday, April 14th.   She was born on June 11, 1940, the eldest child to the late Richard and Maggie Barnes in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.


Maggie retired after 25 years from the State of Virginia Health Department as a Dental Assistant. After retirement she embarked on a joyous new career in the full-time ministry, speaking with people about the bible as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. 


Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Gloria Jean Barnes Cotton and one brothers, and Richard Earl Barnes.


Left to cherish her many memories, are a devoted husband of 57 years, Charlie W Wooten Jr.; two sons, Nicholas A Wooten of NN, VA, and Darryl Wooten of Wilmington NC; a treasured daughter-in-law who became a daughter to her, Wilhemina Thompson (George); two granddaughters, Lawanda Payne (Sam) of NN, VA, Nisah Wooten (El Amin) of Wilmington, NC; five grandsons, Brandon, Kashif, Aquil Wooten (El Amin), Domunique, and Darryl Edwards all of Wilmington, NC.; two great-grandsons, Nicholas Harrell and Jaden Wooten of NN, VA.;  one brother, Benny C Barnes (Marilyn Renee) of Allen, TX and a host of other relatives and dear friends.


A memorial service will be held 12 Noon, Saturday April 23, 2016 at The Fort Monroe Theater, 41 Tidbball Road, Fort Monroe, Virginia.
